Meet the Team: Sruti Vijaykumar, Digital Accessibility Specialist

Meet Sruti Vijaykumar, our Digital Accessibility Specialist at Anthro-Tech!

With a background in computer engineering and a master's in human-centered design, Sruti's journey to our team has been guided by her passion for making digital spaces more inclusive. Today, she shares her experiences, her favorite aspects of working here, and what sets Anthro-Tech apart.

Tell us about your background and what led you to work at Anthro-Tech (A-T)?

I have a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s in human-centered design. Before joining Anthro-Tech, I worked as a UX specialist making websites and medical devices usable, accessible and in some cases, safer to use. I specifically found fulfillment in the web accessibility projects because of its impact on society.

I was drawn to Anthro-Tech’s mission of positive social change. Working in an environment that is driven by values is important to me. When I read the job description, I was excited to apply because it felt like the perfect opportunity to use the skills I had developed over the years and do impactful work in the digital accessibility space.

What is your favorite thing about working at Anthro-Tech?

The people. I have genuinely enjoyed getting to know and work with the people at Anthro-Tech. To do what I love doing while being surrounded by talented, supportive, and kind people has been a dream come true.

What are some exciting projects you've worked on at Anthro-Tech?

The projects I’ve worked on at Anthro-Tech have been exciting because they are not just about providing a service, but also about active problem solving. There is room for creativity and collaboration. Most of the clients genuinely care about adopting a human-centered approach and are open to new ideas which is amazing and challenging.

I think my favorite one so far has been the accessibility review I did for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. The review went beyond the WCAG 2.1 guidelines and included usability and content best practices. I collaborated with talented UX research, design, and content experts at Anthro-Tech to deliver actionable insights to our client who was very receptive and appreciative of our efforts. Washington Care Careers, Department of Licensing and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are also some projects that I enjoyed working on.

What are three words to describe Anthro-Tech>

Head, heart, and soul. As a company, Anthro-Tech cares about quality of work, the well-being of people doing the work and the impact of the work on society.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I love cooking and doing crafts. Cooking is way for me de-stress, feel closer to my family in India, express love and explore different cultures. My comfort food is Pulissery with Matta rice and Kerala-style fish fry. I also love soups and stews - Korean kimchi-jjigae is one of my favorites! Crafts are something I do occasionally when I’m feeling inspired. My latest creation is a mosaic tabletop.
